時間が、ゆっくり流れる町。
HATAGO-JYUKU

An old post town on the Nakasendō road, where time slows — about 2.5 hours from Tokyo.

A WALKING GUIDE FOR TRAVELLERS
01

四百年、街道とともに。

Four centuries on the old road.

A post town on the Nakasendō, the highway that once linked Edo and Kyoto. When the railway took another route, Kagoi was left behind — and so its wooden streets survived. People still live behind the lattices.

The town unwinds with every step.

Wooden lattices, white storehouses, stone paving, and water running along the road. Every door is still someone's home.
